Jordan at 14 Months

Weight: 21.6 lbs
Height: 28 or 29 inches, he would not sit still!
Favorite Food: almost everything! He eats everything we give him.
Words: "ball" "mama" "woof" "bubble" "eat" He also says "thh" anything he's pointing to something. NEW: "light"
New Accomplishments: blows kisses, climbs on everything, got tooth #7 & #8, can point to his nose
What We Did This Month: played in the leaves out back, got his first haircut on 11/19, celebrated Thanksgiving, put up our Christmas tree
Likes: climbing, mama, following his brother, eating, playing in the dog's dishes, the Christmas tree and lights, music, dancing, balloons, being swung around and thrown around, M&Ms, baths and showers
Dislikes: spicy food, brushing his teeth, diaper changes, baby gates

Dress For The Job You Want

One of the things I love about being a nurse (besides, you know, helping people and all that good stuff) is that I get to wear scrubs to work. Is there anything better than wearing clothes that feel like pajamas all day? But one of the things that I dislike about my job is that we have color-coded scrubs - meaning I have to wear navy blue every.single.day. Groan. I wish I could wear pretty colored scrubs such as the ones at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/. They have so many fun ones to choose from! I love to look through the options and pick out ones I'd like to wear if I were able.

For starters, I'd probably never wear navy blue again. I'd pick out some in khaki, chocolate, carribbean, royal, surgical green, and galaxy blue. Such pretty colors.

While browsing their page, I also found that they havescrub clothing for baby and kids! I think I need to get a pair for the boys to go along with the crash cart Jacob just got for his birthday! Oh what fun we could have!

Warm Fruit Salad

Easy and delicious recipe, perfect for wintertime! It's a family favorite!

Ingredients:

- Can of chunky applesauce (I use Matt's homemade applesauce when available)

- can of apricot halves

- can of sliced peaches

- can of mandarin oranges

- can of pineapple chunks (please ignore the crushed pineapple in the picture)

- can of cherry pie filling

- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- cinnamon

(I also add a can of sliced pears)

Directions:

In 9x13 pan, spread chunky applesauce on bottom

Drain and mix the remaining fruit (except pie filling)

Spread over top of applesauce

Spread cherry pie filling on top of fruit

Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle over top.

Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Silly Saturday 12/3

Matt: "What's the magic word?"
Jake: "Abracadabra!"


We got a Disney advertisement in the mail. Jacob holds it and says he's watching Dumbo (what's on the advertisement) on his ipad. He flips it over and says "Now I'm watching Caillou. See, it's loading." Goof!

In continuation of last week's post...
Jake: "Why are you wiping my butt?" (when I was changing him from his nighttime diaper to his daytime undies)
Me: "Because there's pee there"
Jake: "But I don't pee out of my butt.... I wonder.... I wonder if someday you will have a pee pee like me?"
Me: "No, I don't think that will happen."
Jake: "Yeah, but maybe. Maybe some day you will grow a pee pee to pee out of"

50 Stocking Stuffer Ideas

With Christmas right around the corner, I've been thinking about stocking stuffers lately. I like to put essential items in stockings - like toothbrushes or underwear -- things we would need to buy anyway. I also like to put in a few treats or trinkets to make it fun -- like candy or small items. So here's a list of some ideas for stockings, including things for people of all ages.

1. Toothbrush and toothpaste (a new toothbrush is a stocking MUST at my house!)

Five Question Friday 12/2/11

1. What is your favorite Christmas decoration in your house?
This is a hard one because I have several. My very favorite is probably my Sleigh Ride Precious Moments figurine. I also love the nativity set from my childhood (my dad made the manger!), and a few of my ornaments (especially our Mickey and Minnie 1st Christmas together ornament)

2. Do you finish your Christmas shopping early or are you a last minute type?
I shop year round so I'm really never truly finished. Whenever I see something I think someone will like or find a good deal on something, I will pick it up and save it for Christmas or birthdays. That being said, I try to have my Christmas shopping (except stocking stuffers which I usually get at the last minute) done before Thanksgiving because I don't like dealing with the crowds in stores and especially in parking lots closer to Christmas.

3. When do you turn on your heat?
Whenever it gets cold enough.

4. Do you ever wish your blog was private?
No, not really. I keep another blog that is more "private" (nobody from "real life" can read it) so if I want to write something private, I can do it in there. I can also write posts that are only viewable to me in there too.

5. Do you put your deodorant on before of after you put on your shirt?
It really depends but most of the time after so I don't have to worry about deodorant lines on my clothes.
