This summer we decided to sign Jacob up for swimming lessons. He completed his lessons June 10-20. He did absolutely amazing.
At first I wasn't sure how he would react to the lessons since he is a little more timid in the pool. But he proved me wrong and did great. He learned to jump into the pool and go under water (both of which he had already been doing) He learned the proper way to use his arms while swimming, kicking his legs, swimming with a pool noodle, back float, forward float, and jumping off the diving board. I am sure there is more as well but I cannot remember everything.
Since completing the lessons, he has become much more brave at the pool. He jumps off the diving board all on his own, even runs off sometimes. He also goes down the big slide which is huge for him. He used to want to go down it so badly and would even climb all the way to the top before chickening out and climbing back down. I am very proud of him!
We also signed Jordan up for the swimming lessons as well. We thought he would do great since he is so fearless in the pool. He had no desire to do the lessons and screamed the whole time. So I wasn't going to force him into it. Maybe next year he will want to do them. If not, he probably doesn't even need them. He has been doing a really great job at the pool this year as well. He even jumped off the diving board too! (Papa was holding his hand but still! He is only two years old!)

Proud Mama Monday 5/27
I haven’t posted a Proud Mama Moment (or much of anything!)
recently.
Yesterday (05.26) Jordan said “I want to poop on the potty”
and he sat right up there and did it! A small amount but still! He peed on the
potty too. We’re making progress!
Then this morning he insisted on wearing underwear. We'll see how it goes.

Jacob has a My Size Thomas the Train puzzle and he can now do it all by himself! It is 48 pieces!
He also learned how to use his scooter and did a great job scooting around the neighborhood.

Jordan is now able to do the harder of the train puzzles we have (no knobs) all by himself!!

Proud Mama Monday 2/4/13
After the day I had with the boys today, it's hard to write a "Proud Mama Monday" post. But it's days like these where it's most important to write them. Despite their naughtiness, I am still proud of who they are.
Jordan can now sing his ABCs all the way through. He can also sing along to "Jesus Loves Me"
Jordan has been practicing songs with the church choir and was able to get up front and sing with them for the first time on January 27th. He did great!
Jacob has practiced writing some letters and did a great job writing H, C, J, and G the other night. I'd like to work on writing his name this week.

Proud Mama Monday 9/10/12
Jordan, my not quite two year old, can count to five!!!!! AND he pointed to what he was counting so he's not just repeating. OMG.
I was having a bad day this week and was laying in bed crying. Jake came over, wiped my tears with his hand and then kissed me where they were and asked me what was wrong and if I needed a hug. Instant pick me up! He's such a sweet kid! Plus Jordan fell into my head and I told Jordan he hurt me and Jake asked where it hurt and gave me a kiss. Love him!

Proud Mama Monday 8/27/12
We have a baby's first words book and Jordan can name all the pictures on one of the pages. (Things like: flower, dog, cat, fish, car, shoes, tractor, train, stroller, orange, apple, ball... that's all I can remember off hand)
Jacob has been very consistently staying dry in his diaper over night!!! I really never thought this day would come! I am SO proud of him!!
Jordan is saying EVERYTHING! And carrying on conversations that make sense!!
Both the boys are so sweet. I was telling Matt how I hurt my shoulder and Jordan said "Kiss it!" and he kissed it for me to make it all better. Aww.
Jake is working on writing letters. We're struggling big time with it but I'm proud of him for the effort he's putting in!

A bit late but better late than never, right?
Jacob has been fairly consistently staying dry in his diapers during naps. He also stayed dry in his diaper overnight two nights in a row!!!! This is HUGE for us!!!!!
Jordan's ability to communicate has really taken off as well. Not only does he repeat everything you say, he also can express what he wants to very well. He is putting three and four words together.

Proud Mama Monday 7/23/12
While we were on vacation Jordan really started talking. He's saying tons of words now and repeating just about everything we say. The other day he even said "Mommy eat it" THREE WORDS!!!! As Jacob says "Jordan growed up and talks now"
Also on vacation, Jacob learned to swim underwater. He's still really cautious but he will put his face underwater and swim a little ways. Jordan also learned to jump into the water and get himself up to the surface {with just a little help!}

Proud Mama Monday 7/2/12
Jacob is getting better about being in the water now. His new favorite thing is going under water. He's come a long way since the beginning of the summer!
Jordan can do his shapes puzzle now. He can also point to most of the shapes when asked "find the circle/etc" He does get rectangle and triangle mixed up a lot though. He also knows a lot of animal sounds. And he is saying more and more words every day!!

Proud Mama Monday 6/25/12
Jordan is saying more and more words and copying almost everything we say. He is putting 2-3 words together at times even.
Jacob can buckle his car seat buckles all be himself now.
We put the boys together in a big boy full-size bed. While it was rough going the first night, they have really done well with the transition. It is so cute to see them sleeping together.
Jacob was accepted into pre-school! I cannot believe he is big enough to go yet.

Proud Mama Monday 6/4/12
Jacob: "There's three bananas. But after I eat one, there will only be two bananas."
Holy crap. My three year old can do subtraction. We weren't even looking at the bananas when he said that!!
Jacob wrote a pretty awesome looking F the other day when we were trying to write the word "Fruit" after making a fruit sticker art project.
Jordan has learned more and more words every single day. He can say animal sounds for dog, cat, cow, and duck.
Jordan had a brand new dry diaper on, went and sat on his potty, then came over and pointed to the front of his diaper and said "wet" Sure enough, he had peed! He's been letting us know more and more when he's pooped and when his diaper is wet too.

Proud Mama Monday 5/28/12
Yesterday we put a clean diaper on Jordan. He then sat down on his little potty in the kids' bathroom {he sits there a lot} and peed. When he got up he pointed to the front of his diaper and said "wet wet" And he actually HAD peed in his diaper! And I can very safely assume he did it while sitting on the potty because, like I said, we had just put a clean diaper on him.
Today we went to the pool. Jordan had a blast. He was going down the slide over and over and he was jumping off the edge of the pool into the water. One mom was trying to show her little boy who was probably a whole year older than Jordan how to do it like him. One dad said Jordan was the bravest kid he'd ever seen.

Proud Mama Monday 4/9/12
Jacob is really becoming a thoughtful little man. The other morning he climbed into bed with me and asked "Do you feel good today?" When I told him no (I had a bad headache) he said "It's okay Mom, what's wrong?" So sweet!
Another example of his thoughtfulness happened towards his brother. The boys have a robot dinosaur that Jordan is afraid of. Jacob wanted to play with it so he came to Jordan and said "Is it okay if I play with Tiny Tim, Jordan?" {Tiny Tim is what Jake named his dinosaur} Jordan said yes and Jacob was so pleased!
Jacob got a new toy -- The Hulk figurine -- on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning while I was feeding Jordan, Jake was playing with it. Jordan decided he wanted to play with it. Since it was Jacob's brand new toy I didn't require him to share it with him. I said "No, Jordan, that is Jake's new toy" and a few seconds later Jacob came over and gave it to Jordan so he could play with it too. I was very proud of him!
Jordan has been saying yes and no lately and shakes his head no too. He does this appropriately and while it's so stinking adorable I love it even more because it's one more way to have communication with him. Since he doesn't say many words the yes and no make it really helpful to know what he's thinking.
Jordan did really well with the Easter egg hunt yesterday. I was surprised how much he got into it and even got competitive with Jake. I forgot to have them count their eggs but I have a suspicion that JORDAN found more than Jacob did!
Today I took the boys to the grocery store with me. It was the first time I have gone by myself AND taken the boys in a very long time. Usually Matt and I leave the boys with Grandma and Grandpa and head to the store by ourselves. I'm proud of MYSELF for surviving the trip! Lol. But I am really proud of my boys for being so good. Jacob loved helping pick things out and put them in the cart. After the first store Jordan was having a hard time being in the cart. But overall they did really well and were rewarded with a milkshake from Sonic afterwards (Jake's idea!)
I'm a very proud and happy mama today. My boys are my joy!

Proud Mama Monday 3/19/12
Yesterday Jacob sang in the church choir for the first time. His group is called The Cherubs and it is made up of 3-5 year olds (pre-k). They sang two songs: "God So Loved The World" (to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot") and "If You're Saved and You Know It" (to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It") While it wasn't perfect, Jacob still did a great job singing. We just need to work on him staying where he's supposed to stay. I think putting him on the end was not a great idea -- he wanders. And he completely sat down during the second performance (they sang at both the 9.15 and the 10.45 services) But either way, I was proud of him! I look forward to the many more performances he'll have.
{Jacob is in the front row all the way to the right -- green shirt}
The 9.15 service
The 10.45 service
{Sorry, the quality of these videos are TERRIBLE when I upload them to here!}
lining up practicing
in between services. all the little kids were loving on jordan, so cute
at least my kid wasn't the only one being goofy :-)

Jordan is saying more and more "words" now. It was the cutest thing when he said "Batman" the other day! He also copies everything we say! Adorable!!
Jacob can now put his socks on by himself. And he can spell his name -- it's been a long time coming!

Proud Mama Monday 2/20/12
I can't believe that I forgot to write about this two weeks in a row. Jacob has been learning to write letters! We practiced writing on Grandma's birthday card. The original plan was for him to write "Happy Birthday Grandma" on the bottom of the card. However, in true kid fashion, his letters were so big that he got "Hap" before we ran out of room. Unfortunately, it's hard to see his letters because he picked a pink crayon to write with. But here it is!

Proud Mama Monday 2/13/12
This week Jacob used some pretty big words in every day conversation. First, he said "Look at this delicious supper I made" in reference to his play food. Then he said an even bigger word that blew me out of the water that he even knew it and sounded so funny coming out of his little three year old mouth. Unfortunately, none of us can remember what that word was now. We were racking our brains all day yesterday trying to think of it, but nothing.
Jordan is getting pretty good at using a spoon to feed himself without making such a huge mess anymore.

Last night Jacob counted objects in a book and found the corresponding number to go with them. He did 1-10.
This is totally a coincidence but Jordan picked up a letter E from his bath toys and said "E" at the same time!
Jacob has stayed in bed for the past two nights!! WOOHOO!!!
