Jordan: Twelve Months

As I've mentioned several times now, Jordan is now a year old. He turned one on September 30th. He weighed 20.2 lbs and was 29.5 inches long. His head circumference was 46 cm. He still has red hair and blue eyes and at one he had 5 teeth with a 6th about to pop through (it has by the time I am getting around to writing this!) He wears mostly 12 month clothes but does wear a few 9 month still and very few 18 month.

Jordan still breastfeeds about 3-4 times a day. He eats everything else. There is nothing that kid doesn't like. His favorites are: MEAT!, hamburger, steak, chicken, cheese, hummus, puffs, fruit of all kinds, pickles, EVERYTHING!!

Jordan has been consistently sleeping through the night now (knock on wood, it only took 11 months!) but he does still wake up some nights here and there. He always goes right back to bed after nursing. He falls asleep on his own as long as he has his pacifier and block that I made him. He pretty much always sleeps on his side or his back.

He has been experimenting more with sounds. He copies, or tries to, almost everything we say! It's adorable.

Jordan started walking on his birthday. Since I am writing this late I will say that since his birthday he has been walking more and more but he's still about half and half with walking and crawling. Jordan still loves balls, car and trucks, blocks, music, and dancing. He loves climbing and being thrown in the air. He learned how to climb off of the couch/bed/my lap/etc and how to climb onto the coffee table, my sewing box, the table in the toy room, etc. He's also learned how to climb out of his farm activity center. He officially can't be contained anymore! He has a fascination with the dog dishes, very frustrating!!

Jordan, as well as Jacob and myself, had a bout of sickness this past month. Luckily, Jordan got it the least severe as the rest of us. He had a fever for only a day and coughed for a few days. He sounded almost croupy at times but not quite. We used his inhaler for him once or twice and he was fine after awhile. Poor little guy! I hate it when he's sick!

Proud Mama Monday 10/3/11

I think there are two very obvious things to write about this week. The first is that my sweet baby boy turned a year old on Friday and I am so proud of the little boy he is becoming. The second, of course, is that he started walking on his birthday. However, there was something less obvious that made me equally (if not more!) proud of that little guy....

We were playing in the toy room the other day and Jordan took a piece of play food and stuck it in the oven on their kitchen. Then he closed the oven door and turned the knob. He definitely watches what we do. He's definitely learning!!

Proud Mama Monday Wednesday

I've been losing track of my days recently. And I forgot to post my proud moments of the week on Monday. But I thought this was cute and worth mentioning.

Jordan had stood up and was walking along while holding onto something. Jacob didn't see he was holding on and excitedly exclaimed "Oh! Look! He's walking! Yay Jordan!!"

SUCH a good big brother!

Proud Mama Monday 9/5

The boys have been sleeping much better lately. Bedtime has not been a battle. Jacob no longer whines and fusses when it's time for bed, he just goes through the routine and lays quietly in bed until he falls asleep. We've been able to move bedtime back up to where it should be {8-8.30} without a fuss. I know a great deal of that is due to it getting darker earlier but we even put the kids to bed when it was still semi-light out and they were fine. Whew! In addition to that, Jordan has been sleeping through the night most nights now. It only took eleven months {quite a change from Jacob sleeping through the night consistently at 7 weeks!!} but I am glad we're there now. I think the boys really enjoy having each other for company during the night. ♥

I'm also a proud mama because Jordan has been taking a few steps at a time here and there. The most he's done is 4 in a row last night. He's getting to be such a big boy!

Little Walker

Well, we are now walking!!

For awhile now he has been walking while holding our hand and even taking a few steps on his own when he didn't realize he was doing so. Finally our little chicken got over his fears and took off. And he's been walking EVERYWHERE since. It is sooooo cute!!

It started on Monday, January 11th. I set him down by the chair in the living room where I give him his morning bottle. I walked into the bathroom to heat up the bottle in the sink and the next thing I know Jacob comes toddling in. He now follows us all over the house on his two little legs and feet. ADORABLE!!!!

Below is a video from Monday night. He looks a little shaky in the video but we must have just caught him at an off moment. He's been doing much better than he looks in here. I'll try to get a better one soon.

Ten & Eleven Month Update

Wow, it's been awhile! Ten months just sort of blew past me and here we are at eleven months already!

So at 10 months Jacob weighed about 20.6lbs and was about 27.5 inches long. He started clapping his hands and he, unfortunately, learned how to unroll the toilet paper rolls. We now keep the bathroom doors closed! We took him to his first apple orchard and he loved looking at all the animals, riding the hay ride, and sampling the apples we picked. We also celebrated his first Halloween. He dressed up as a lion and we visited both sets of grandparents.

At just shy of 11 months I had to stop nursing Jacob. I continued to pump for awhile while we mixed in whole milk - per our doctor's permission. He didn't even seem to notice the transition. Yesterday he had his first all whole milk bottle. He's been doing great with it!

He now weighs 22.7 lbs and is 27 inches long with a head circumference of 46 cm. As usual, we took this measurements at home so we are not sure how accurate they really are.

He continues to grow and amaze us. He is growing up too fast for my liking!

He can recognize objects by name now. If we say certain names he will either look at the object or point to the object. Sometimes he says "da!" or "de!" when he points too. I think it's his way of saying "there it is!" Things he can recognize by name are: tick tock clock, turkey, pumpkin, pilgrims (all my fall decorations hehe), baby jakey (his baby picture on the wall), charlie, and kitty. He is dying to start talking and has his own words for different things too. Kitty = tee; Pumpkin = PA-ba; Truck = ta; etc.

He is also dying to start walking, which I am not ready for! He likes to practice with his push toys going back and forth over and over throughout the house. He still isn't brave enough to try to stand up on his own without holding on to something so I think that will buy us some time before the madness really begins! He is crawling up a storm and is so fast now sometimes he's hard to catch! He has also figured out how to crawl backwards to get off my lap. Boo!

I haven't witnessed this but Lolo (my mom) says that he has switched the lights on and off a few times from his crib. He hasn't made the connection yet and looks around, confused, when they go on and off. Luckily he doesn't do this often! Haha. What he does do often is throw everything out of his crib.... pacifier, cross, blanket, elephant, etc. When he's really being a stinker, he'll throw it all out and then cry until you give it back to him.

He has been trying more and more table foods. One of his favorites is bananas. He makes a huge mess mashing it up in his hands before eating it but he loves it! He's also tried sweet potato fries, nilla wafers, chicken, peas, apples, and that's all I can think of right now.

He is really starting to develop a personality and we're in for it because he is going to be a troublemaker. But he's also a lot of fun so we're up for the challenge!
