Proud Mama Monday 5/27

I haven’t posted a Proud Mama Moment (or much of anything!) recently.


Yesterday (05.26) Jordan said “I want to poop on the potty” and he sat right up there and did it! A small amount but still! He peed on the potty too. We’re making progress!  

Then this morning he insisted on wearing underwear. We'll see how it goes.

Proud Mama Monday 8/27/12


We have a baby's first words book and Jordan can name all the pictures on one of the pages. (Things like: flower, dog, cat, fish, car, shoes, tractor, train, stroller, orange, apple, ball... that's all I can remember off hand) 

Jacob has been very consistently staying dry in his diaper over night!!! I really never thought this day would come! I am SO proud of him!!

Jordan is saying EVERYTHING! And carrying on conversations that make sense!! 

Both the boys are so sweet. I was telling Matt how I hurt my shoulder and Jordan said "Kiss it!" and he kissed it for me to make it all better. Aww. 

Jake is working on writing letters. We're struggling big time with it but I'm proud of him for the effort he's putting in!

Proud Mama Monday 6/4/12


Jacob: "There's three bananas. But after I eat one, there will only be two bananas."
Holy crap. My three year old can do subtraction. We weren't even looking at the bananas when he said that!! 


Jacob wrote a pretty awesome looking F the other day when we were trying to write the word "Fruit" after making a fruit sticker art project. 


Jordan has learned more and more words every single day. He can say animal sounds for dog, cat, cow, and duck. 


Jordan had a brand new dry diaper on, went and sat on his potty, then came over and pointed to the front of his diaper and said "wet" Sure enough, he had peed! He's been letting us know more and more when he's pooped and when his diaper is wet too.

Proud Mama Monday 5/28/12


Yesterday we put a clean diaper on Jordan. He then sat down on his little potty in the kids' bathroom {he sits there a lot} and peed. When he got up he pointed to the front of his diaper and said "wet wet" And he actually HAD peed in his diaper! And I can very safely assume he did it while sitting on the potty because, like I said, we had just put a clean diaper on him. 


Today we went to the pool. Jordan had a blast. He was going down the slide over and over and he was jumping off the edge of the pool into the water. One mom was trying to show her little boy who was probably a whole year older than Jordan how to do it like him. One dad said Jordan was the bravest kid he'd ever seen.

Proud Mama Monday 10/10/11


I mentioned in a previous post that Jacob spent the night away from home for the first time (of his own choosing). Well, he did great!! And, not only that, but he stayed dry in his diaper (he wears them at night only) all night long!!! So proud of him!

A Glimpse of Jacob at 33 Months



Weight: I didn't weigh him again this month, I'm guessing around 34 lbs still
Height: I didn't measure him again this month
Favorite Food: yogurt, blue popsicles, blueberries, strawberries, baked beans
Favorite Toy: cars and trucks, mega bloks, playing that people got hurt and we have to rescue them
Frequent Phrases: "Let me show you what," "What?," "Why?," I don't know," "I want...," "I do it/Me do it,"  "I don't want to," "Can I help?," "Watch," "Come in here," "Play with me," "Why we can't?"
New Accomplishments: he does somersaults fairly straight, he can flip his legs over the top of the couch (he's not supposed to, but that doesn't stop him), he is completely potty trained except for at night but he usually waits until I get him up to go poop in the morning, he can draw straight lines, he can get his flip flop sandals on and off by himself, he undresses himself mostly except he sometimes can't get his shirts off
What We Did This Month: celebrated Lolo's birthday, celebrated Minnie's birthday, had to wear girl pull ups to bed (the store didn't have any boy ones :-x), went to the dentist, went to a picnic with Mom's work, got new spiderman jammies after Jordan moved into the nursery with him, got his first tattoo, went to the duck pond with Daddy, went with Lolo and Papa to their friend's cottage, met Emma and Tori
Likes: Spiderman ("pidermaaaaan"), going to the park, cars and trucks, blocks, reading, jumping, doing somersaults, golf, eating, Mater, picking out things for his birthday, tickles, Monsters Inc, dinosaurs, diggers, dump trucks, helping with laundry, coloring in the shower, going to the pool
Dislikes: taking naps, breakfast, sharing (sometimes), being sick - which he's been quite a lot lately, poor kid!

To Remember: 
How he pronounces Jordan = Gig-gin. He calls Jordan "Gig-gin," "Dig-gin," or "Babe"

And something fun to remember... My mom took Jake back to their house the other day. As they were leaving I said to Jake, "Don't miss me too much" He pulled the front door back open and said "Okay, I won't miss you!" Hehe, stinker!

A Potty Trained Mind

One of Jordan's favorite things to do is play with water. So it really shouldn't be any surprise that we often find him splashing in the dog's water dish. We recently pulled out Charlie's old dish stand to try and deter him from doing this. (Side note: It didn't work!)

Jake came around the corner and saw it, then said: "This for peeing in?"

Oh, I just love him. The kid totally cracks me up!

Jacob at 31 Months


Weight: 35 lbs
Height: 36"
Favorite Food: fruit snacks (cars and spiderman), cheese, juice
Favorite Toy: balls, bike, cozy coupe
Frequent Phrases: "No, I do it", "I don't want you", "I need to go at work"
New Accomplishments: he stays dry during the day and wears undies most days, he can really jump with both feet off the ground now, he can say his entire alphabet
What We Did This Month: went to John Ball Park Zoo, went to the pool at my parents' house several times, celebrated Father's Day, watched fireworks for the 4th of July
Likes: spiderman, beach balls, playing outside, eating, swimming, monsters, golf, fireworks, trying out different potties everywhere we go
Dislikes: sleeping, not getting his way, his mama :-(, cooperating, having his picture taken

Jacob at 29 Months


Weight: 34 lbs
Height: 37 inches
Favorite Food: cheerios
Favorite Toy: blocks, trucks
Frequent Phrases: "Me do it all by self," "Where are you?," I want {insert anything imaginable here}," "That okay"
New Accomplishments: jumping with both feet off the ground, staying dry for half a day, undressing
What We Did This Month: celebrated Easter, started a sticker reward for potty training (that actually works fairly well), started wearing pull-ups, participated in The Great Cloth Diaper Change, finger painted for the first time, colored on the walls with crayon
Likes: going to the park, making people laugh, being chased, being tickled, playing, music, Caillou, helping out, doing things by himself, reading books
Dislikes: taking naps, being told no, listening :-)

Jacob Michael: 28 Months

My computer is broken so my two options are to use my husband's (too small) computer or the one hooked up to the TV (too big) Aren't I picky? In any case, I felt like I needed to update about the Jakester so here goes... (and sorry this is going to be shorter than usual -- not much changes month to month for him anymore)


Jacob turned 28 months old on April 5th. He now weighs between 34 and 35 lbs depending on the day (he weighs himself often) We did not take his height this time.

Jake pretty much says EVERYTHING now. He repeats everything we say and do as well so we really have to watch ourselves. Some of his more common phrases right now are "Look at/Look at me," "Me no want you/that," "What's that?," and "Me do it/Me do all by self"

His alphabet now comes out as: "A B C D F G H I M N O P Q X Y Z Now sing me"

He can count 1-10 and counts everything he can find. If we say 11 after 10 he can say 12 and 13 as well but he doesn't come up with those numbers on his own. If we say nothing and he needs to count beyond ten, every number is ten. What I mean is "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 10 10 10" So funny

His favorite things to play with this month are still blocks and cars/trucks. He also loves to read books and pretends to read them himself. And he enjoys watching movies. It may have started before (in fact I'm pretty sure that it did) but we've noticed that he's started biting his nails. Yuck!

He's been doing really well with potty training, especially pooping on the potty. He still goes in his diaper every day, especially peeing, but he goes on the potty at least once a day. We received a pampers potty training packet in the mail that included a sticker chart. He gets a sticker every day he goes and that seems to be a good motivation to him. He usually asks to go first thing every morning instead of pooping in his diaper now. What a big boy!!

I'm sure there's plenty more to say but that's all I can remember at this point. No pictures until my computer is fixed :-(

Five Question Friday & Stuff




1. Do you know what your REAL hair color is?
Yes. What you see is what you get. I don't color my hair. I have more important things to waste my money on.... like diapers!!!

2. Do you plan ahead for summer, or fly by the seat of your pants?
We fly by the seat of our pants. Last year we had hoped to take a trip to Chicago and go to the zoo and Shedd's Aquarium. So maybe we'll plan a weekend to do that this year instead.

3. What is your favorite meal to cook?
None :-) On that note, last night I made the most amazing spinach pasta recipe. It was soooo yummy!! I'll have to post it later.

4. Do you get offended by not receiving thank yous?
Nope. But they are nice. And I always make sure to send them myself otherwise I just feel guilty and rude!

5. How did you meet your best friend?
She gave birth to me



Other Stuff
We've had several sample boxes of cereal in our pantry for awhile so this morning I tried two of them. Here are my thoughts.
Quaker Oatmeal Squares Brown Sugar: I was very excited to try these! They were decent but didn't taste like oatmeal like I expected. Even so, I'd probably buy them again.
Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal: I expected these to be similar to cheerios. My first thought was how cute it was that some of the cereal was shaped like cheerios and some of it was shaped like hearts. Then I tasted it. It was way too cinnamony for me! Jacob really liked it though. Like cheerios, it hurt my mouth to eat it. I'm weird like that.


Last night Jacob counted 1-10! I was so proud of him! He wanted some apricots and there were four left so I asked him if he could count to four. Well he did and just kept going! Usually he goes from three right up to eight so I was surprised to find out he actually DOES know how to count. Of course, today he won't do it again. Stinker!

Today I'm trying Jacob in undies for the first time. The goal is to put him in undies first thing every morning and once he's wet he has to wear a diaper for the rest of the day. He's been in them for 45 minutes now and so far so good. We'll see how long it lasts today! He's wearing his super cool sports undies :-) What a big boy!

Not much new to report with the little stinker other than he's been sleeping through the night now in his crib. Except for this morning he woke up at 3 and then again at 5 and he was up for the day then. Sigh.

Jake wants to read now so I'm out. Bye!
