Proud Mama Monday 5/27

I haven’t posted a Proud Mama Moment (or much of anything!) recently.

Yesterday (05.26) Jordan said “I want to poop on the potty” and he sat right up there and did it! A small amount but still! He peed on the potty too. We’re making progress!

Then this morning he insisted on wearing underwear. We'll see how it goes.

A Grief That Can't Be Spoken

This past week my family experienced a tragedy and as much as I don’t want to write about it, it wouldn't feel right to not acknowledge that - to pretend as if nothing happened. It’s one of those moments that forever defines your life and separates events into before and after. Before we moved, before my Papa died, before I graduated, before I was married, before I was a mother, before my mom had cancer…

And yet there are just no words. How can I write about it when I can’t make sense of it? How can I put it out there for the whole world to see when I still don’t even believe it really happened?

It is with grief beyond measure that I say what I’m about to say. Early Tuesday morning, my sweet nephew who was just days shy of turning five months old, went to be with our Lord. A baby stolen from our lives to live a life of Glory with God. A family broken into pieces.

Christopher James was a very happy baby and he was very loved by us all. We will continue to love him and we will miss him dearly all the days of our lives until we meet again in Heaven some day.

And Then There Were Three....

On Thursday, May 2nd at 5:30 pm, we welcomed our third and final addition to our family. And it was another boy!

Quillan Isaiah
6 lbs 10 oz, 19 inches long

Jacob was totally enamored with him right away. It took a little more warming up for Jordan to come around. But both boys seem happy with their new baby brother now.

Melt My Heart

I just had to document this.

This morning the boys were playing on Daddy's "ipad" while we were busy working on things. Jordan was doing a puzzle on there and when he finished Jake said "I am so proud of you!"

Park Fun

It's finally nice enough outside to play at the park! (Even though it snowed yesterday -- this state is SO WEIRD!) The boys have grown a lot since last summer and can do all kinds of new things at the park. Jake can now climb every climbing thing they have there. Jordan is still scared of the bridge on the bigger play structure (he thinks he's going to fall through the holes) but he can now climb the leaves, the beanstalk, and the smaller red bars. Such big kids!! And what a joy to be outside again!

Jake can now climb this!

Easter 2013

Although Easter is my very favorite holiday, this year's Easter weekend was kind of a bummer for our family.

Friday started with me at work feeling absolutely terrible and like I was going to pass out at any moment. Matt had to come and pick me up (an ordeal because he had dropped his car off to be fixed the night before!) and we spent a few hours in OB triage hooked up to the monitors. Everything looked great with Baby Nemo and in the end they decided I just needed to eat and drink more, although they really aren't certain the cause. We came home to discover that Jake had pink eye!

Saturday I stayed home from work and felt terrible basically all day again. Matt also woke up with a mild case of pink eye. He went to the doctor and got drops for Jake's eyes. I did manage to muster up enough energy to hide Easter eggs for the boys while they were napping. When they woke up, they did their egg hunt in our living room and we gave them their baskets. Jake said "This was a GREAT Easter!"

Jordan received: Color Wonder finger painting kit, frosted animal crackers, The Land Before Time DVD, Easter book, 101 Dalmatian socks, Candy Land band-aids.
Jake received: soccer ball, Easter book, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything DVD, frosted animal crackers, Simba socks, Candy Land band-aids
Together they received: big tub of animal crackers, Worship songs CD

Saturday night Jordan woke us up to vomit all over his bed.

Sunday I was back to work and felt a bit better. I'm still dizzy but it's improving. Matt was home with the boys and Jordan was running a fever and throwing up throughout the day. When I got home from work his fever broke so we went to Matt's parent's house for Easter dinner and another egg hunt. The dinner was delicious (ham, cheesy potatoes, rolls, green beans) I am ashamed to say how much I ate! After dinner, the boys hunted for eggs in the basement. They had a lot of fun.

Today, thankfully, Jordan woke up fever free! We'll see if we can keep everyone on the road to recovery over here! Despite the sicknesses, we are still counting our blessings! The Lord is Risen! Hallelujah!!!
