Me {to Jacob}: "You are the best!"
Jacob: "Yeah. I am."
---------------------
Jacob: "I have an itchy beard!"
--------------------
Jacob: "Is that the Wicked Witch?"
Me: "No, baby, that's the President."
------------------
(We were trying to tell Jacob how The Wizard of Oz was going to be too scary for him because of the witch in it)
Me: "I'll get you my pretty! And your little dog too! *insert witch laugh*"
Jacob: "I'm not scared of witches that are funny!"

I love Wizard of Oz!!! When I used to watch my nephew I had read (or watched) something that recommended asking kids questions that required more than just a "Yes" or "No" answer to encourage better sentence formation. I asked him "Who's a witch?" And he would reply "Auntie Heidi." "Am I a good witch or a bad witch?" Most of the time he would tell me "You're a bad witch!" (and we would both giggle) but every once in a while he would let me know I was being a good witch. He's still never seen the movie, but it actually helped get him to start talking to me instead of one-word answered and pointing!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! Oh what the things kids will say :)
