Silly Saturday 7/28/12
Me: "What is Jordan's pirate name?"
Jake: "Pawkeye"
Me: "No, Hawkeye"
Jake: "Hot guy... hot eye..."
Matt: "Jordan, do you like Papa's fish?"
Jordan: "Mmhmm"
Matt: "But are you scared of it?"
Jordan: "Mmhmm"
Matt: "Why are you scared of it?
Jordan: "Teeth" (pointing to his teeth)
Jordan: "Teeth" (pointing to his teeth)
SO STINKING CUTE!!
Me: "Jacob, don't put your fingers in your brother's nose!"
Jacob: "Why not?"
Me: "Your fingers are too big for his nose"
Jacob: "But they're not for mine!" (sticks his finger in his nose)
Jacob: "Before I know it I'm going to be 2,010 years old"
Me: "WOW! That's really old."
Jacob: "Then I'll be old... like you guys!"
Jacob: "Why not?"
Me: "Your fingers are too big for his nose"
Jacob: "But they're not for mine!" (sticks his finger in his nose)
Jacob: "Before I know it I'm going to be 2,010 years old"

Redemption
I was having one of those days where I love my kids but I don't exactly like them. Jacob was exceptionally naughty and Jordan was exceptionally crabby. Add to that my fatigue and headache and it made for a disastrous day.
At the end of the day when I was at the end of my rope, I was standing in the kitchen hugging my hubby when Jacob excused himself from his seat at the dinner table and came over behind me and wrapped his little arms around me.
Even despite the awful days, being a mom is worth it. Thanks for the reminder Jacob!
Five Question Friday 7/27/12
1. What is the funniest thing you saw on Facebook/twitter this week?
2. What is your favorite Olympic event?
I really don't watch The Olympics. We don't have cable and even so, it just doesn't interest me that much. That being said, I do enjoy an occasional figure skating in the winter and gymnastics in the summer.
3. Do your kids to chores around the house? If so, what are they and how old are the children? Do they get paid for them?
They really don't. They are only 1 and 3. I have been toying with the idea of having the 3 year old start doing some chores and giving him a few cents for each thing to put into his piggy bank. I want to start teaching him about money and letting him buy things at the store with his money he's earned. The boys do enjoy helping me with the laundry. They both like putting the wet clothes into the dryer (although I've been line drying them outside this summer) and Jake helps me put underwear and socks in their correct drawers. Just this morning he also asked if he could help me wipe down the kitchen table. And both the boys like to get out their toy vacuums (okay so one is a toy vacuum and one is a ball popper they use as a vacuum!) whenever I vacuum. I am not sure what chores a three year old can really do but I am thinking he could help with dusting and picking up his toys and little things like that. I've seen really cute chore charts on pinterest that I could make for them.
4. If you get bad service/food do you complain or keep quiet?
It really depends on my mood. Once in awhile I get really feisty and want to tell people how it is. Usually I don't say anything. I'm not much for confrontation.
5. If you could pick ONE frivolous item for your home, what would it be? (massive room sized closet? swimming pool? greenhouse? etc...)
An INDOOR swimming pool. There is a house in our neighborhood that has one so I know that having one is actually a total disaster but I'd love to be able to go swimming whenever I wanted, even in the winter.

Vacation: Day Three - Cook Out
Later Saturday evening we had a cook out. The boys, Matt and Nathan (Adrian's husband) cooked steak on a charcoal grill and the girls made green beans and corn on the cob. It was a delicious meal! The kids got a chance to play together before and after dinner. Having four boys between the ages of 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 was sure fun. And loud. They all got along great.
After Adrian, Nathan, Grayson, and Claire went home for the night, Jacob, Jordan, and Ciaran got to take a bubble bath. They had a blast playing in the bubbles!
Vacation: Day Three - Museum
On Saturday, we got up and ready to head to the Children's Museum. There is a really neat Children's Museum in Greenville that puts the one in Grand Rapids to {major} shame! We met another friend, Adrian, and her two kiddos, Grayson and Claire, there. The kids had an absolute blast at the museum. In fact, I think the adults did as well! I seriously wish this museum was closer to us - we'd have a membership for sure!
My favorite part of the museum was the grocery store. It was so cute! It had little carts and baskets for shopping, a deli counter and bakery counter, a frozen foods section, and lots of shelves with organized boxes and cans and things. Plus it had a fresh produce section. So adorable!
The boys favorite part was these pipes that you put balls into and the balls travel through the pipes and come back out. They could have stayed and played there the entire day! I had to literally drag them away from it -- twice!
Here's a few pictures from the museum...
After the museum, we headed home where we all took naps... including the adults!
