We had a rough night with Jacob last night. He was fine all day - a little more naughty than usual but totally himself. We had dinner, he and I took a shower together, got ready for bed, and we put him down early (relatively, since he's been pushing his bedtime back farther and farther) Matt and I watched an episode of Desperate Housewives and then I went to bed at 10. Matt went to look something up on the computer and heard Jake get out of bed and start crying. He went into his room, picked him up, and Jake threw up all over Matt. Matt cleaned him up and brought him in the bathroom. He got me up to tell me so I went to get Jake and put him back to bed while Matt cleaned up the bathroom. He threw up all over me. It was in my hair and running down into my bra. I don't do well with vomit. Poor Matt. He was like "Just get in the shower. Get in the shower with your clothes on." So Jake and I got in the shower again. We were both shivering. We got out and got him ready for bed again. We put him to bed and as soon as we laid down in bed we heard him throw up again on the monitor. So we went in and changed him and his sheets and I rocked him in the chair. Matt called the doctor and they said if he continued for 3-4 hours we should bring him in to the ER for fluids. I was planning to just stay up with him and rock him until he fell asleep. He just kept throwing up over and over. He finally fell asleep at 1am.
Matt said he'd stay in his bedroom with him so I went back to bed. Slept for almost an hour when Jordan woke up to nurse. I nursed him in bed and heard Matt get up and rinse out Jake's bowl 2-3 times. Then Matt came in the bedroom and said he wanted to bring him in to the ER because he kept throwing up and he was acting really weak. So we called my MIL over to stay with Jordan and we headed in to the hospital. The newly opened children's hospital has it's own ER now so we didn't have to wait at all. We got there at 4am. He threw up in the car right when we pulled up.
It was Jake's first time to the ER. He looked so cute in his little hospital gown sitting on the stretcher. He sat in my lap in the rocking chair most of the time. He was really proud of his ID bracelet and kept holding it up and saying "Jacob Michael"
The nurse came in and asked a bunch of questions. Then the resident came in. Then the attending came in. The attending physician was actually the same dr that delivered Jordan! So now I finally have a face to her name as well () I didn't say anything to her though. They gave Jake some zofran that dissolved in his mouth and he felt fine after that. We watched most of Cars while we were there. Then they brought Jake a slushie to see if he could keep it down. He picked a blue one. He loved it. He kept saying "more blue wawa" He was able to keep it all down and we were discharged home around 6am. We put Jake to bed again at 6.30 when we got home. He didn't move a muscle until he woke up at 9.30ish. He hasn't thrown up but he's had diarrhea now twice this morning already. They said we should expect that. He's in good spirits this morning. I am too surprisingly for only 2.5 hours of sleep!
