On Easter Sunday we woke up early and got ourselves and the kids ready for church. The sermon was on joy. It was another wonderful message! We then had a pancake breakfast in the church basement that was put on by the youth as a fundraiser. Unfortunately, Jacob was very crabby and Jordan was moderately crabby. But I enjoyed the food! When we got home we attempted to take some pictures of the boys in their Easter outfits but -- SURPRISE! -- Jordan didn't want to cooperate. Jacob, my little model, posed for a few while Jordan thought running around the yard was more fun.
We gave up on the picture-taking and came inside and gave the boys their Easter baskets. Jacob's basket had: a superman shirt, oven mitts and pans for his kitchen, pack of bug stickers, pack of construction paper, kids scissors, pencil, pencil sharpener, baseball and mitt, spiderman cup, 3 pairs of spiderman socks, cookie monster socks, lots of books (Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day, A Bug's Life, Clifford's Hiccups, The Lion King Slugs and Bugs Ugh, Bob The Builder Scoop Saves The Day, and Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You?) and lots of candy. Jordan's basket had: cement truck shirt, outfit, plaid shorts, books (Bubbles Bubbles, Toes Ears and Nose, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Opposite Day noise making book), pack of Easter bunny stickers, cookie monster socks, elmo socks, oscar the grouch socks, sports socks, grover cup, plush caterpillar rattle/toy, musical clacker, and lots of candy.
After we opened baskets, it was naptime! And for Mommy, too! The boys slept hard. I had to wake them both up when it was time to go over to Grandma and Grandpa's house.
When we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house, we had an egg hunt in the backyard. Wasn't that a joy! When I asked Jacob that night what his favorite part of the day was he said it was the egg hunt. I told him that was my favorite part too. Jordan surprised us all by not only finding some eggs on his own but by getting super into it. He was even getting competitive with Jacob over the eggs! I'm not sure because I forgot to count them but I think that Jordan may have ended up with more than Jacob did.
After we ate and played for awhile we took a plate of food over to my parents' house. They had planned on attending church and dinner with us but my mom was having a bad day so they had to cancel on both. We brought them dinner and spent some time with them and they also had an Easter basket for the boys. Spoiled! After spending some time there we headed home and straight to bed!
What a wonderful day we had celebrating Jesus' Resurrection with our family.
